Cooking News 2018/2019

What a wonderful year of cooking we have had!  Each year level joined in the fun in the kitchen making  a delicious variety of sweet and savoury dishes. Students  practiced their knife technique, learnt a plethora of new skills as well as nutrition, food groups, customs, celebrations and much much more. Students embraced the various roles in the kitchen from head chef, to hygiene officer to uniform officer, all very important jobs in the kitchen requiring leadership and cooperation.  Some students reported that their favourite part of cooking was the washing up – so families please ensure they continue to help out at home with the dishes too! On  a personal note, this year being my first year at ENPS , I would like to thank the school community for embracing the program, offering their support and time, especially all the wonderfully efficient, hardworking, parents, aunties, grandparents  volunteers that I had the pleasure of meeting over the course of the year. The cooking program relies on your help and I couldn’t have done it without you all.  Also thank you to the wonderful teaching staff and admin staff at ENPS  for their support of the program also.

I would love to hear when the students come back from break, about the cooking adventures they have had in the kitchen.  Such wonderful memories can be formed in the kitchen, I hope you and your children enjoy some time cooking together.  Remember that all the recipes from each year level can be found on the schools website under the cooking tab:

As we did in 2018, we will again be requiring volunteers to help with the program – parents, grandparents, extended family members etc.  Please ensure if you are volunteering to help you have a current Working With Children’s Card.  Commitment is for an hour per week.  The children love it when someone from their family volunteers in the kitchen, and it creates such special memories.  If you wish to sign up for  Term 1 helping in the kitchen, please email me with your child’s name, class and your commitment and I will add you to the roster. Please note grade 5 and 6 parents will be emailed once timetable is finalised and your cooking time determined asking you to sign up to volunteer to help.

If you have any questions regarding next year’s program please do not hesitate to contact me.

Wishing you and your families a wonderful festive break, with much fun, food and cheer
