Walking School Bus Update

Walking School Bus

I would like to thank Skaterz for such a wonderful afternoonon Friday 14th.
There were 35 people (including mums and dads) who turned up. That is 95% of the walking school bus participants.

The students had such a great time, most of them didn't believe it was time to go. There was lots of falling over but thankfully there were no tears. The youngest at age 3 got the skates on and so did a couple of mums who were determined to try and keep up with their children. Anyone interested in joining the walking school bus can download forms from the ENPS website or go to the office. The weather is fantastic now for walking to school and what a better way to keep fit at the same time. Anyone joining up now will be in for a surprise in Term 4!!!!

Art program for 1/2 classes

Did you know that Eltham North has some famous sculptors in Year 1/2?

WREAD Parent Information Night

Write to Read Information Evening

In August, 30 families were represented at our first Write to Read Parent Information Evening. The evening provided an overview of the Write to Read Program and included an insight into how the phonograms and rules are taught through reading, writing and spelling activities. It was an excellent evening and provided opportunities for questions and discussion. Information and handouts from the evening are available. Click on the links below.

New Professional Development focus E5

Last week staff participate in a PD session with other local Eltham Schools to discuss a new Department of Education and Early Childhood Development initiative entitled E5 . All schools in Victoria will be introducing the E5 concepts over the next few months. The ultimate intent of this initiative is to ensure that there is greater consistency of excellent teaching practice across Victoria and to ensure that there is rigour in the approach in classrooms in our government school system. Focusing on the following domains of quality teaching:

School Pride Funding

Works are well underway to complete valuable 'School Pride' projects in the school.  Additional playground equipment has been installed for 3/4 and 5/6 students, and two very large flat areas have been created on the north and south sides of the 5/6 classroom zone.
