A Walking School Bus is a group of children who walk to school in the morning along a route, that is safe and approved by Nillumbik Shire Council. It has an adult volunteer ‘driver’ at the front and a ‘conductor’ at the back. (two volunteer parents).

The Walking School Bus Program is a state-wide program supported by VicHealth and operates through local councils.  To maintain our routes, two parents who live locally learn how to be approved as a conductor and then commit to walking the designed route once a week on a particular day (that you choose). If you can assist as a conductor then we will arrange for your training.  Is there a day of the week that you can commit to walking to school on one of the routes? Do you know of another parent who can do the same? If so, then we can build upon this.  We always have lots of children interested in walking the school as part of the WSB routes.
