Hi All

We are experiencing high staff absences due to illness which directly affects all members of our school community. We ask that you please continue to monitor your children for cold and flu symptoms as well as testing for Covid if you notice any symptoms. We have high student absence in the junior school this week.  Please keep your children at home if they are unwell to protect everyone from becoming unwell. We are short staffed in the sickbay as well and placing unwell students away from everyone while we await parents to pick up their child is also an additional challenge. Thank you for your assistance with this.

Leadership have noticed this term that children as well as staff are struggling with 'good health' and childrens' resilience is down a bit, so we ask parents to be supportive and positive with your children at home. The teachers are working hard to encourage and look after student safety and well-being at school. Maintain good routine at home and a calm and orderly environment at school will assist us all get through the winter period.

NAPLAN Report for parents were send out last week.  We are awaiting detailed reports which are due out soon but we expect the Year 3 overall results to be in the norm range with similar schools and the Year 5 results to be very positive.  More to come as data arrives.

Pottery: We have Jess and Mary Lou Pittard running their pottery program in the art craft room this term.  The skills of the children and high levels of motivation and passion for these creative subjects is wonderful to observe.

Sport: We have a number of sporting events underway this term. Last week was the State Cross Country, Division Netball and District Athletics.

Prep Offers for 2024 were issued on Monday 31 July to parents. During the week, parents will respond by accepting the offer made to them. We will know our 2024 numbers by the end of this week. There will probably be a few changes in and out as all the schools are contacting families this week.

PFA: Tandy held a meeting with parents last week brainstorming ways to celebrate our 100th Birthday in May 2024. We will continue to publicise information about this special event soon.

Survey of parents in year 4, 5 + 6 regarding our Outdoor Education program. As we aim to continuously improve our programs, we would appreciate your feedback (insights, suggestions and thoughts) about our school camp programs.

Survey of parents on ‘bring Your Own Device (BYOD) strategy’ for year 3 students 2024.  We put out a survey to parents who have had a few weeks to respond. Leadership are thinking of holding a Parent Information Night on this topic.

Events this week:

Wednesday 2nd and Thursday 3rd August is our 2nd Hand Uniform Shop sale

Thursday 3rd August is 100 days of Preps celebration

Cheers David Foley
